09/19/11 - Would you buy a car if you were allowed to know only its color? Sorry – you’re not permitted to ask about its cost, brand, efficiency, or size. Congratulations – you’ll be paying $50,000 for a maroon Yugo!As ridiculous as it may sound, this is actually very similar to how the US EPA frequently makes its regulatory determinations!

Tesoro/Consumers Win on Debit Card Swipe Fees
06/13/11 - On June 8th, the US Senate flatly rejected the banking industry’s plan to merely study, rather than finally reform U.S. debit-card fees. These fees generate $1.3 billion in added fees each month that retailers and consumers must pay. The Senate vote clears the way for important new US Federal Reserve regulations to take effect on July 21st.
